Sum 41 Member Responds to Rumor He’s Joining Beloved Band

Sum 41’s Deryck Whibley has taken to social media to put an end to rumors that he is the new lead singer of Linkin Park and even Oasis.

Fans seem to have made a connection between Sum 41’s teaser of a “Deryck Whibley” announcement on August 28, which coincidentally comes out on the same day that Linkin Park was also planning to make a big announcement.

Whibley shattered the illusion by saying the two announcements were unrelated.

“I feel the need to debunk some current rumors,” Whibley wrote in a post on X, formerly known as Twitter. “It has been brought to my attention that many people think I may be joining a reunion band. But I just want to say that despite popular belief, I am not joining Oasis… or Linkin Park. Or any other band for that matter.”

“I have my own ‘tour and book’ announcement that I’m now moving to the end of the week, ahead of our US tour. I’m looking forward to seeing what these two great bands do in the future,” he added.

While Oasis have confirmed their plans for a 2025 tour, much remains unknown regarding Linkin Park’s announcement.

Their last post, posted on August 24, included a timer counting down 100 hours.

That announcement could come at any moment.
