Many people involved in the Dolphins’ offensive meltdown deserve the blame, but none more so than McDaniel. The third-year head coach opted to start a quarterback who clearly looked unprepared and unready to run the offense. The unprepared Dolphins offense produced five illegal shift penalties, including three on a single drive in the fourth quarter.

The adjustments have been minimal and the Dolphins have continually banged their heads against the wall of opposing defenses, even when it’s clear that certain concepts aren’t working at all.

Last week, McDaniel told reporters he would give up his play-calling duties if he thought it would help the team get wins. That seems like a better and better idea every week.
