Authorities in Nebraska are investigating a shooting at an Omaha high school that left a 15-year-old boy seriously injured.

Omaha police responded to a shooting at Omaha Northwest High School, they said in a statement Tuesday afternoon, September 10.

“There is one victim reported at this time,” Omaha police said. said in their statement on X (formerly Twitter).

“A 15-year-old was shot and we have a suspect in custody,” Omaha Police Officer Michael Pecha confirms to PEOPLE. “Students are being let out of the school at this time.”

Authorities said it was an isolated incident between two students, WOWT, KETV and the Associated Press reported.

Police say an investigation is underway.
