PHOENIX (AZFamilie) — Showers and thunderstorms moved through parts of the valley on Sunday evening, prompting a dust storm warning for the western valley.

We expect the rest of Sunday evening to remain calm.

As we head into Labor Day, high pressure will strengthen over the region and we expect mostly dry conditions across the state for Monday. We will see high temperatures in the lower deserts by midweek.

The National Weather Service has issued an extreme heat warning for Wednesday, Thursday and Friday. Thunderstorm activity will taper off across the state on Monday, with high temperatures similar to Sunday’s, near 107 degrees for Phoenix.

By the end of the week, temperatures in the lower deserts are expected to be around 108-114. This warning is in effect for Maricopa County and western Arizona, including communities along the Colorado River.

These temperatures are well above average for this time of year. The average temperature is 104 degrees. Phoenix should remain above that temperature for the next seven days.
