Scattered, slow-moving storms will develop this afternoon, possibly lingering into high school football games. We don’t expect many storms, but fans and officials should keep an eye on their radar. There is a risk that a few storms could become severe. Highs will reach the upper 80s to near 90s.

LABOR DAY WEEKEND

A front will move through the region from Sunday through Monday. Until then, scattered storms are likely to occur each afternoon. The weekend won’t be all that rain, but you can still bring umbrellas if you’re going camping or barbecuing.

COOLER AIR NEXT WEEK

A pocket of cooler air breaks loose and moves south into the region for the first week of September. Highs will only reach the 70s starting Tuesday. Lows tonight will be in the 50s to near 60s.
