Russell Wilson may not be active during tonight’s Pittsburgh Steelers-Dallas Cowboys game, but Mother Nature certainly was.

The Week 5 ‘Sunday Night Football’ game between the Steelers and Cowboys was a highly anticipated matchup between two of the NFL’s most storied franchises, but the typical 8:20 PM ET kickoff time for ‘SNF’ games was postponed due to weather .

Lightning and rain in the area delayed the match’s kickoff, sending fans into the concourse and players back to their respective dressing rooms.

Here’s the latest on the weather over Acrisure Stadium in Pittsburgh:

Fans will have to wait a little longer than usual for “Sunday Night Football” to begin. The game suffered a lightning delay due to a storm near Acrisure Stadium in Pittsburgh.

As of 9:17 p.m., the weather around Acrisure Stadium had cleared and fans returned to their seats. The weather band around Pittsburgh seemed to pass over the stadium at that time.

According to Weather.com, a severe thunderstorm warning was in effect in Pittsburgh. The chance of rain was forecast to peak at 9:00 PM ET (89%). At that time, “severe thunderstorms” will occur in the area.

According to Jarrett Bell of USA TODAY Sports, fans were told to take cover in the concourse or the FedEx Great Hall, a trophy room and a plaque inside the stadium.

NFL policy dictates that the 30-minute clock for clearance to play restarts when a lightning strike occurs in the area.

According to the NBC broadcast, the players are expected to be back on the field around 9:25 PM ET, with kickoff set for 9:45 PM ET as it was postponed due to rain.
