Marcus Rashford scored his first goal since March as Manchester United won 3-0 at Southampton.

It could all have ended differently as two minutes later Cameron Archer saw his penalty saved by André Onana, before United took the lead through a header from Matthijs de Ligt.

Rashford scored four minutes before half-time after Amad Diallo played the ball to him on the left side of the penalty area.

United could have easily extended their lead either side of the break, with Aaron Ramsdale impressing in the Saints’ goal. But as the second half wore on, they looked unable to extend the lead, until Jack Stephens was sent off for a foul on Alejandro Garnacho.

The Argentine rounded off the scoring in the final minute of injury time, turning in a low cross from Diogo Dalot to secure United’s second league win of the season, with Southampton remaining bottom of the table on a single point.
