Soton v Man Utd team news: Harwood-Bellis + Armstrong on the bench

Gameweek 4 of the Fantasy Premier League (FPL) kicks off with a competition that has produced some classic Premier League moments over the years.

Manchester United’s grey kit was blamed for their defeat on the south coast in 1995/96. Six months later, Southampton beat their visitors 6-3.

The Red Devils will have fonder memories of games against Saints in recent years, when they beat them 9-0 at Old Trafford three years ago.

That was the mechanism in which Jan Bednarek – a starter today – produced his record low score of -7.

Both clubs have of course come a long way from their glory days.

Southampton are pointless and struggling to maintain their Premier League status after last year’s promotion.

United have suffered two straight defeats at the start of the 2024/25 season, after their worst league result in 34 years.

Both managers have responded to the defeats in round 3 by making changes.

New Southampton signings Lesley Ugochukwu, Matheus Fernandes And Cameron Sagittarius get their first start of the campaign.

This also applies to Tyler Dibling, a £4.5million attacking midfielder in the FPL who has really stood out in pre-season and when coming on as a substitute this season.

Going out Adam Armstrong, Will Smallbone, Joe Aribo and semi-popular budget advocate Taylor Harwood-Bellis. All variants except Smallbone are replacements.

The fit-again is also on the bench Ross Stewartwho is likely to be the only one to get playing time out of the other £4.5million attackers.

Christian Eriksen And Amad Diallo Meanwhile, Manchester United started.

Alejandro Garnacholate back from South America, sitting on the couch. So also Cassamiro, who performed a horror show two weeks ago.
