Shannon Sharpe has admitted the viral sex tape on Instagram that was accidentally broadcast to his 3.2 million Instagram followers left him “embarrassed” and “disappointed”.

On Wednesday, the Pro Football Hall of Famer and ESPN personality unknowingly shared a livestream on social media in which he performed sexual acts on an unknown woman.

Although only a wooden floor was visible on screen, viewers could hear moans and some NSFW words from Sharpe and his wife.

“Obviously I’m embarrassed,” Sharpe said during an emergency episode of “Nightcap.”

“Someone who is extremely, extremely private and one of your most intimate details – the audio – is out there for the whole world to hear, I am embarrassed by that for a number of reasons.”

He continued: “There are a lot of people who rely on Shannon to be professional at all times and I always try to be professional, even when I’m behind closed doors. … I’m very disappointed in myself, not in the act.”

“I think there are millions and billions of people of consenting age who participate in activities, but that the audio is being heard, I’m disappointed in that. I’ve disappointed a lot of people,” he added.

Sharpe initially claimed his Instagram account had been hacked in a post on X, but subsequently deleted the post.

“Please be aware my @shannonsharpe84 Instagram was hacked this morning. My team and I are working hard to resolve this,” he posted and deleted on his Instagram Story on Wednesday.

After the video was shared widely on social media, Sharpe confessed to the unfortunate incident and admitted that his Instagram account had not been hacked.

“I threw my phone on the bed, did an activity,” Sharpe said. “I didn’t know about IG live. I’ve never turned on IG live, so I don’t know how it works, and all of a sudden my other phone goes off.”

Sharpe, 56, is known for being very private about his love life and has never been married.

Not much is known about the women he has dated, other than that he was engaged to fitness trainer Katy Kellner in 2016.

The former Denver Broncos star is the father of son Kiari and daughters Kayla and Kaley, but little information is available about their mothers.
