Selena Gomez lashed out at Martin Short and Steve Martin by making a joke about “childless cat ladies,” a nod to Taylor Swift.

Selena Gomez took the stage with her co-star Short and Martin van Only murders in the building to present the first award at the 2024 Emmy Awards.

Martin joked: “And let me just say what an honor it is for me to be able to collaborate with someone who looks like a former female tennis champion.”

The Wizards of Waverly Place star responded by saying, “And let me just say, what an honor it is to work with two men who are so far removed from childless cat ladies.”

“I don’t think so. Steve and I both voted for you, of course,” Short told her.

Martin responded by saying, “And Marty and I made an agreement to be fair, which was that we would both vote for each other.”

“But the Emmys aren’t about who wins or who loses,” the Calm down Singer closed the entire debate by saying:

For those who don’t know, Swift endorsed Vice President Kamala Harris for the 2024 general election and posted a photo on social media with the caption, “Childless Cat Lady,” highlighting a three-year-old quote from Donald Trump’s running mate, James David Vance.

It is pertinent to note that JD Vance called Kamala Harris a “childless cat lady” and said, “A bunch of childless cat ladies who are unhappy with their own lives and the choices they’ve made and so they want to make the rest of the country unhappy too.”
