The SEC’s lawsuit also targets six other promoters of the NovaTech scheme, all of whom the agency alleges used “religious overtones” to attract new investors. The scheme was ultimately found to be a pyramid scheme, using money from new investors to pay out previous investors as the promoters also took money for themselves.
