CINCINNATI (WKRC) – The Savannah Bananas have announced they will play at Great American Ball Park.

The Savannah Bananas announced on X Thursday that they come to Cincinnati to play at GABP.

“So fun, let’s do it twice!” the team wrote in the post. “Charlotte, NC Creates Second NFL Stadium That Goes Bananas!”

Included in the post was an image of the exhibit team’s schedule for June 2025, with the following dates for their stop in Cincinnati:

The Savannah Bananas play a variation of baseball called “Banana Ball”, which is baseball but with the following rule changes designed to speed up the game:

1. Games are scored with points added for innings won rather than runs scored
2. Two hour time limit
3. No getting out
4. No crank
5. Batters can steal first base
6. No walks allowed
7. One-on-one tiebreak tiebreak
8. No mound visits are allowed
9. If a fan catches a foul ball, it’s an out

The Bananas typically played in minor league baseball stadiums. The team plays home games at Grayson Stadium in Savannah, Georgia, which has a capacity of 4,000 people. GABP has a relative capacity of 42,271 people.

According to USA todaySavannah Banana games often feature gags such as hitters using flaming bats, dancing base coaches and umpires, along with wearing unusual attire such as kilts and astronaut helmets.

The outlet reported that the Bananas were originally a summer league collegiate amateur team from 2016 to 2022, playing in the Coastal Plain League.

The Coastal Plain League is a wood bat league for college players with 14 teams in the following states:

• North Carolina
• South Carolina
• Virginia
• Georgia

The Bananas won three Petit Cup championships in 2016, along with back-to-back titles in 2021 and 2022, according to the Savannah Morning News. The team announced in 2022 that it would end their collegiate amateur summer league to focus solely on playing Banana Ball.
