    The Rutgers football season has finally started.

    The Scarlet Knights open their 2024 season today against Howard at 6 p.m. at SHI Stadium. It’s the first game of what could be a memorable season if all goes well for Greg Schiano’s team.

    After a 7-6 record last season, including a Pinstripe Bowl win over Miami, Rutgers has a top running back back in Kyle Monangai, who led the Big Ten in rushing last season, and most of a top defense (which will be without linebacker Mohamed Toure this season due to a torn ACL). They also added quarterback Athan Kaliakmanis, who transferred from Minnesota and won the starting job after spring training.

    So the Scarlet Knights have the pieces in place.
