“Emily in Paris in Rome makes no sense,” Macron said during the interview, adding that the show is “super positive in terms of attractiveness” for France.

The show, one of Netflix’s biggest hits, tells the story of American expat Emily Cooper who lives and works in Paris. However, Emily will leave Paris for Rome next season.

In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter Roma on Wednesday, Gualtieri warned the French president not to intimidate or disrupt Netflix’s production plans for the show’s next season.

Gualtieri also said he spoke about Macron’s comments with Paris Mayor Anne Hidalgo and they both laughed about it.

“We see Emily’s move to Rome as confirmation that our city is becoming increasingly important, and we are quite relaxed about Netflix’s production decisions. They know what they are doing,” he said, adding: “To be honest, we think Mr. Macron should just relax.”
