Revealed: The email the CEO sent to BBC staff informing them that Jermaine Jenas had been sacked for ‘inappropriate behaviour’

  • This comes after it was announced that TV presenter Jenas, 41, was fired this week

This is the email the BBC’s director of sport sent to staff informing them that presenter Jermaine Jenas had been sacked following complaints of inappropriate behaviour.

“Hello everyone, I wanted to let you know that Jermaine Jenas is no longer working for the BBC,” Alex Kay-Jeleski said in an email to BBC Sport staff, seen by MaiOnline.

It comes after it was announced this week that TV presenter Jenas, 41, has been sacked. The BBC confirmed that Jenas is ‘no longer part of our presenting line-up’ after complaints were received that he had sent unsolicited text messages to a female member of staff on the One Show.

According to the BBC, the former Premier League footballer’s contract was “terminated earlier this week due to alleged issues surrounding workplace conduct.”

The company added: “This follows allegations regarding digital communications, such as text messages, that were made to the company a few weeks ago.”

Sources at the BBC report that Jenas will stop broadcasting her evening programme with immediate effect.

It appears he has also been removed from MC Saatchi’s agency website.

One of them told the Mail: ‘It all came as a huge shock, but his colleagues have now heard the news and he is not coming back.

“His colleagues are stunned, they didn’t see it coming at all. They were kept in the dark from the start. They couldn’t believe it when they found out.”

The former Premier League star has yet to comment on his sacking, even appearing to laugh during this afternoon’s live 4pm TalkSport Drive show, just minutes after news broke that he had been sacked from the BBC.

Jenas was due to appear on the show again tomorrow, but Mail Sport has learned that this will no longer be the case.

The complaints reportedly related to his ‘behaviour in the workplace’ and the issues were raised with the broadcaster a few weeks ago, after which action was taken.

The married father-of-four last presented The One Show on July 22, alongside Welsh co-host Alex Jones. He interviewed pop star Will Young and was a guest on the Match of The Day panel on May 4.

A BBC spokesperson said: “We can confirm that Jermaine Jenas is no longer part of our presenting line-up.”

A source told The Sun of the revelation: “This is an absolute nightmare for the BBC.”

Jenas previously presented the Match of the Day spin-off and was a regular studio analyst for the BBC’s coverage of the European Championship.
