Reports: Titans trade QB Malik Willis to Packers

According to multiple sources, the Tennessee Titans are set to trade quarterback Malik Willis to the Green Bay Packers.

According to ESPN, the Packers are sending a seventh-round pick to Tennessee in return and NFL NetworkWillis is expected to play behind starter Jordan Love in Green Bay, alongside second-year pro Sean Clifford.

It’s not immediately clear what the depth chart will look like or which backup quarterbacks the Packers will keep on their 53-man roster to start the regular season. Seventh-round rookie Michael Pratt (Tulane) is also on the preseason roster.

The Titans drafted Willis in the third round of the 2022 draft as a backup to Ryan Tannehill and a potential quarterback of the future. He appeared in eight games as a rookie, including three starts while Tannehill was injured.

The Titans then drafted Will Levis in 2023 and installed him as their starter midseason in favor of an injured Tannehill. The Titans did not re-sign Tannehill when his contract expired and he remains a free agent with the regular season approaching. Levis is now the starter in Tennessee and the Titans signed Mason Rudolph in the offseason, making Willis redundant.

Willis, an athletic quarterback with the potential to make game-breaking plays with his legs, has not consistently shown a full quarterback arsenal in his limited opportunities with the Titans. In 11 appearances, including three starts, he completed 53 percent of his passes for 5.3 yards per attempt with no touchdowns and three interceptions. He has 144 rushing yards and a touchdown on 4.5 yards per carry.

He now gets a second chance to carve out a backup role behind one of the league’s most promising young quarterbacks in Love.
