Russell Wilson traveled to Atlanta with the Steelers, but his first appearance for his new team may have to wait.

Wilson is listed as questionable due to a calf injury and NFL Media reports that Justin Fields is more likely to get the start in the season opener. Wilson reportedly told the team that he is good enough to play, but Sunday morning’s report shows the team thinks otherwise.

Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin gave Wilson the inside track to the starting job after both quarterbacks joined the team, but Wilson injured his calf during a conditioning test during training camp and left practice this week with stiffness in the same calf. If Fields starts and plays well, the next question for Tomlin and the Steelers is whether to move on to a healthy Wilson or let it happen.

That point may be irrelevant come Sunday night, but it appears Fields will get a chance to plead his case for the job on Sunday.
