Reddit is experiencing a massive outage, leaving users worldwide struggling to use the social site and app

Hundreds of thousands of Reddit users reported problems with the social media site today due to a major outage.

The problems started around 3:45 p.m. Eastern Time on Wednesday and affected people in the US, UK and Europe.

Users who visited the site’s homepage this afternoon were met with a message from Reddit that read: “Server error. Please try again later.”

More than 150,000 people have reported problems on the tracking website Downdetector. This is likely a gross underestimation of the total number of affected users.

Reddit says the issue is “currently being investigated.” The issue affects desktop users as well as users of mobile websites and apps.

This comes just weeks after the social media site suffered a global outage on August 13, leaving people unable to access their accounts.

The problem was resolved within a few hours.
