Quarterback Derek Carr breaks free from the 26-13 loss of the New Orleans Saints

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – New Orleans Saints quarterback Derek Carr left Monday’s 26-13 loss to the Kansas City Chiefs with an oblique injury in the fourth quarter.

β€œIt’s a left side, that’s all I know,” Saints coach Dennis Allen said. “The match continues. The trainer told me that he had a left side injury and that he is out.”

Allen did not say whether Carr’s injury would require further testing.

Carr left the field with 9:32 left in the game after throwing an incomplete pass to wide receiver Mason Tipton on fourth down. He appeared to be holding his hip as the foul left the field, went to the injury tent for evaluation and then walked to the locker room with the team’s medical staff.

This is the fourth game Carr has left with an injury in his two seasons in New Orleans. He sprained the AC joint in his shoulder against the Green Bay Packers in Week 3 of last season and was placed on concussion orders twice last year in losses to the Minnesota Vikings and Detroit Lions.

Carr suffered a left groin injury in Week 4 this season.
