Top events to watch

Saturday August 31st marks the last day of For taekwondo action with a full day of competition. The program includes the men K44 +80kg gold medal competitionwhere Team USA’s Evan Medell will be favorite to win.

At the debut of the Paralympic sport on Tokyo 2020, Medell won bronze despite breaking his foot in the semi-finals and hopes to upgrade the colour of his medal at Paris 2024.

In Para swimming, Great Britain Iona Winnifrith will make her long-awaited Paralympic debut. The 13-year-old is already a two-time European champion. She will swim in the women 200m medley SM7in pursuit of her first Paralympic medal.

Also watch the Brazilian swimmer Gabriel dos Santos Araujoalso known as “Gabrielzihno”, who wants to defend his title in the 50m backstroke S2. Team USA’s 16-time Paralympic gold medalist Jessica Lang will also compete in the women’s 100m backstroke, event S8, kicking off her Paris 2024 Paralympic Games.

The six-time Paralympian will also compete in the S8 200m medley (September 1), S8 400m freestyle (September 4) and S8 100m butterfly (September 7), as she hopes to add to her incredible medal haul in France.

In Para-athletics**,** the Dutch Fleur Jong will be one of the favorites to participate in the T64 long jump., while Team USA’s Susannah Scaroni seems to be outpacing the competition in the women T54 5,000m.
