All PSN services have been affected since October 1, 2024 at 3:21 PM. Currently, PlayStation users are facing a widespread outage. Services such as account management, online gaming, PlayStation Video and the PlayStation Store are offline. Due to this outage, players will not be able to log in, create PSN accounts, launch certain games, use network features or make purchases from the PlayStation Store.

When PlayStation servers are up and running again

Sony is aware of the issue and is currently working on a fix. According to a post on X, the Japanese tech giant is still unsure of the exact cause of the problem. This could be a major problem as the PSN outage has lasted for over four hours.

Sony’s official network status page states: “You may be having trouble logging in or creating an account for PlayStation Network. We are working to resolve the issue as soon as possible. Thank you for your patience.” For now, all we can do is wait for PSN to be repaired and service restored. At least we know Sony is doing something.

“Welcome Hub” problem

In late September, the PlayStation 5 received an update that introduced the “Welcome Hub”, a new dashboard feature with advertisements. This unwanted addition caused some players to see ads when selecting a game to play. It’s another example of how Sony has been ‘letting down’ fans lately. The failure of Concord, the high price of the PlayStation 5 Pro and the lackluster state of play are just the tip of the iceberg of the problems Sony is currently facing.
