Patrick Mahomes wishes pregnant wife Brittany a happy birthday after controversy over Trump support on social media

Patrick Mahomes didn’t let the negative reactions to his wife, who expressed her support for Donald Trump via an Instagram post, stop him from celebrating her birthday with an Instagram post of her own.

Mahomes posted a series of photos on Instagram on Saturday of him and his wife, Brittany Mahomes, celebrating her 29th birthday. The slideshow included a group shot of them and their children, 3-year-old daughter Sterling Skye and 1-year-old son Patrick “Bronze” Lavon Mahomes III.

Brittany is pregnant with their third child.

Other photos in the slideshow include a shot of the couple partying at the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit studio earlier this year when Brittany was signed to model for the brand. In the final photo, Patrick showed off his wife and his three Super Bowl rings in a photo of them kissing at the Kansas City Chiefs’ Super Bowl ring ceremony in June.

However, Patrick did not post any photos from the birthday dinner that Brittany shared on her own Instagram story on Friday night. Brittany tagged her husband in one of the slides on her story, but he was not visible in the image. However, Patrick did repost the slide with Brittany tagging him.

The birthday messages follow a week of controversy surrounding the 29-year-old mother.

Brittany first showed her support for Trump on August 13, when she liked Trump’s Instagram post outlining the “2024 GOP platform.”

The like sparked a firestorm of backlash against the superstar quarterback’s wife. Among the critics were fans of Taylor Swift, who is in a relationship with Chiefs star Travis Kelce. Several fan pages dedicated to Swift posted screenshots of the like on social media, condemning the quarterback’s wife.

The model responded to the criticism in her Instagram story on August 23.

“I mean honestly, to be a hater as an adult you have to have some deep rooted issues that you refuse to heal from your childhood,” she wrote. “There is no reason your brain is fully developed and you hate to see others do well.”

On Monday she posted another message about the situation on Instagram.

“Contrary to the tone of the world today…you can disagree with someone and still love them. You can have different opinions and still be kind,” she wrote on August 26. “Read that again!”

On Wednesday, she appeared to like two other comments, one that said “TRUMP-VANCE 2024” and another that said “Good to see you’re not giving in. We’re all entitled to our own opinions and shouldn’t be pressured into submission.”

In a recent episode of the “WHOOP” PodcastBrittany said she has leaned on her three-time Super Bowl winner and quarterback husband to help navigate the recent public criticism.

“It helped me a lot having him help me through it, because he’s really good at managing those things and blocking people and all that stuff,” she said. “It helped a lot having him there with me and guiding me and coaching me through it. I think that’s where we’re at now.”

She added that her husband helped her develop a ‘she doesn’t give a damn’ attitude.

“I think the biggest thing he always said to me is, ‘Stop caring what people think, especially the people that don’t even know you,'” she said. “And so I think social media has done a lot for me in the past, and now it’s just that I honestly don’t give a f— what people have to say about me.

“And I think he’s helped me get to that point where I’m strong in who I am, I’m confident in who I am, and I’m confident in my relationship and his — and I’m confident in our life. So why should what other people say even matter?”

Patrick has never publicly endorsed any political figure or affiliation. In April, he told Time that he would not talk about who he would vote for in the upcoming election.

“I don’t want to pressure anyone to vote for a particular president,” Patrick said. “I want people to have their voices heard, no matter who they believe. I want them to do the research.”

However, he did donate $500 to the NFL Players Association political action committee, according to Open secretsThe NFLPA donated $45,000 to Democrats and $35,000 to Republicans, the site said.

Brittany and Patrick were born and raised in East Texas. They started dating while attending Whitehouse High School in Whitehouse, Texas, when Patrick was the school’s quarterback and Brittany played football. Whitehouse is a city of about 8,500 people and has a history of voting Republican, according to Data USA.
