The Chiefs’ dominance over the Chargers continued, marking their sixth straight victory against the AFC West rival. Additionally, the Chiefs extended their record of 11 consecutive road wins against the Chargers, the longest active streak of any visiting team in the league. Head coach Andy Reid also expressed pride in his team’s resilience, highlighting how they stayed united even when things seemed to be going in the wrong direction. “The guys had each other’s backs,” Reid said, highlighting his team’s collective strength.
Kansas City faced some challenges early with the loss of wide receiver Rashee Rice, who suffered a possible season-ending knee injury. Rice was injured while chasing Chargers cornerback Kristian Fulton on an interception return. The Chiefs also had to overcome two turnovers, one of which was Mahomes’ fifth interception of the season.

Despite these setbacks, the Chargers failed to take full advantage of Kansas City’s mistakes, scoring just 10 points short of turnovers. Los Angeles struggled to maintain offensive momentum, going three-and-out on four of their last eight possessions. Their running game, which had been a strong point in their previous two wins, was rendered ineffective, managing just 55 rushing yards at an average of 2.3 yards per carry.
Kansas City’s defense strengthened, especially when the Chargers had a golden opportunity to regain the lead. In a crucial moment in the fourth quarter, Los Angeles advanced to the Chiefs’ 3-yard line. However, quarterback Justin Herbert’s pass to tight end Hayden Hurst fell incomplete, thanks to immense pressure from Chiefs defenders Chris Jones and Felix Anudike-Uzomah. Seven minutes later, the Chiefs took the lead for good with a two-yard touchdown run by Samaje Perine that sealed the game. Kelce, who played a very crucial role in the win, recorded seven receptions for 89 yards, breaking the franchise’s all-time receiving record previously held by Tony Gonzalez.
