Packers vs. Colts, discussion thread first half week 2

The news that Green Bay Packers fans have been expecting all week is now final: Jordan Love will not play in today’s game against the Indianapolis Colts. In Love’s place will be backup Malik Willis, who will try to lead the 0-1 Packers to their first win of the season.

Willis is 1-2 as a starter in his career, with all three of those starts coming in his rookie year of 2022. He’s also looking for his first NFL touchdown pass and 100-yard passing game, but if he can trust his receivers to make plays after the catch, he should have a very good chance of getting there.

After all, the Packers’ young receiving corps excels at making plays after the catch point, a quality Jayden Reed in particular has in spades. Reed went over 100 yards receiving in Week 1, thanks in part to a huge 70-yard catch-and-run for a score, and he added a 33-yard rushing touchdown. He’s active after suffering an injury in practice this week, and he could be another focal point this week as the team tries to get Willis acclimated to some short throws.

The Packers defense must deal with second-year quarterback Anthony Richardson and Jonathan Taylor, the stars of the Colts’ offense. Can Jeff Hafley contain the big-play quarterback? Tune in to find out, and join us in the comments to discuss the first half.
