(This story has been updated to accurately reflect the most current information.)

LOS ANGELES – Green Bay Packers wide receiver Romeo Doubs will not be with the team for Sunday’s game against the Los Angeles Rams.

The Packers announced Saturday that Doubs had been placed on the reserve/suspended list for one game for conduct detrimental to the team.

“Unfortunately, we have had to make the difficult decision to suspend Romeo for this week’s game,” general manager Brian Gutekunst said in the press release. “His decisions and actions during the week had a negative impact on the team and required us to take this action. While we are certainly disappointed, we are confident that we can move forward in a positive way. Romeo is a valuable member of our team and we look forward to welcoming him back next week.”

According to Bill Huber of SportsIllustrated.com, Doubs was unhappy with his role in the offense. Doubs practiced Wednesday, the day the week’s game plan is presented to the players. But he didn’t show up for training on Thursday.

The Packers listed him on the injury report as a non-participant – personal. When asked about Doubs on Thursday, coach Matt LaFleur said he hoped the wide receiver would be back on the practice field on Friday. Doubs again failed to show up on Friday. LaFleur did not give a specific reason for his absence.

What are Romeo Doubs’ stats for Packers in the 2024 season?

Doubs ranks third on the team in targets with 20, but he’s not far behind leaders Jayden Reed and Dontayvion Wicks, who have 22 each. However, in Sunday’s Minnesota game, Wicks had 13 goals and caught only five, dropping three passes.

Doubs and Reed both had eight targets.

The Packers did not reduce Wicks’ playing time despite his drops. Wicks played 58 snaps to Doubs’ 65. Wicks’ snaps likely would have been lower had Christian Watson not suffered an ankle sprain and been unable to return to the game.

Doubs is tied for second with tight end Tucker Kraft with 12 receptions. He has totaled 169 yards and no touchdowns.

Packers changed their game plan when Malik Willis started for Jordan Love, which affected the role of the wide receivers

Doubs is used to being the favored receiver. He led the team with 96 goals last year and was tied for second on the team during his rookie season of 2021.

None of the receivers have had an extraordinary amount of receptions this year, partly due to quarterback Jordan Love missing two games. The Packers threw just 33 passes in the two games that backup quarterback Malik Willis started.

Watson has been the most ignored of all receivers. He has just eight targets and has caught five for 80 yards and a touchdown. Watson played just nine snaps against the Vikings, and in the first three games he played 117 snaps to Doubs’ 159.

What is the Packers Wide Receiver depth chart in the game vs. Rams?

Doubs’ absence leaves the Packers short-handed in their matchup against the Rams. Watson is in doubt, leaving receiving duties to Reed, Wicks, Bo Melton and Malik Heath.

The Packers signed cornerback Robert Rochell from the practice squad to the active roster and elevated fullback Andrew Beck from the practice squad to the active roster for game day in other moves announced Saturday.

Rochell has appeared in two matches as a game day pitcher. In total, he played in 39 regular-season games, including five starts for the Rams (2021-22) and Packers (2023-24).

The Packers also announced that defensive lineman Jonathan Ford (calf), who has been designated for return from injured reserve and within a 21-day practice period, will not travel or play this week.
