Packers receiver leaves game vs. Vikings

play

Green Bay Packers wide receiver Christian Watson suffered an ankle injury late in the first quarter against the Minnesota Vikings on Sunday.

Watson walked off the field but was taken to the locker room and the Packers said it was initially questionable whether he would return but has been ruled out.

Watson was injured trying to catch a Jordan Love pass that was intercepted by Kamu Grugier-Hill. Watson’s leg became trapped under Grugier-Hill as he fell backwards.

Watson missed ten games last season due to hamstring injuries. He was looking forward to Love’s return from injury, as he had just five catches in his first three games for 80 yards as a touchdown.

In Watson’s absence in the first half, five Packers receivers combined for 12 catches, 118 yards and a touchdown, but Green Bay trailed Minnesota 28–7.

Love had another interception in the first half and the Vikings turned both turnovers into touchdowns.
