Packers’ Jordan Love ruled out, ex-Titan Malik Willis starts

Jordan Love’s return to the Packers has been delayed for at least a week.

Green Bay’s starting quarterback was not used for Sunday’s game against the Titans, with former Tennessee quarterback and current Packer Malik Willis being favored.

The 25-year-old Love suffered an MCL sprain on the final drive of the Packers’ 34-29 loss to the Eagles in Brazil on Sept. 6.

ESPN reported earlier this month that Love — in the first year of a four-year, $220 million contract — would be sidelined for approximately three to four weeks.

Willis, 25, replaced Love in the Packers’ 16-10 win over the Colts last week.

The third-year quarterback completed 12 of 14 attempts for 122 yards and a touchdown.

Sunday’s game marks Willis’ return to Nashville after being traded by the Titans in August.

He was selected third overall by the team in 2022.

When asked what it was like to face his former team and prove them wrong, Willis stressed there was no ill will.

“I don’t care, bro. I think I got paid the whole time I was there,” Willis said, according to The Athletic. “I’m more than blessed with the opportunity they’ve given me, and they’ve brought me into this league whether those guys are there or not.”

The Titans are relying on second-year quarterback Will Levis, who is coming off two straight losses.

The former second-round pick drew the ire of coach Brian Callahan last week when an unfortunate throw led to a Titans turnover in a 24-17 loss to the Aaron Rodgers-led Jets.

Callahan, in his first season at the helm at Tennessee, appeared to shout from the sidelines, “What the f–k are you doing?”

The Titans (0-2) and Packers (1-1) kick off at 1 p.m. at Nissan Stadium.
