OSU withdraws from Herd

COLUMBUS, Oh. (WSAZ) – Marshall jumped on #3 Ohio State quickly on Saturday afternoon, but it was the Buckeyes who ultimately overpowered the Herd and took the 49-14 victory in Columbus. On MU’s first possession, they went 75 yards in 13 plays, capped by an Ethan Payne touchdown to give them an early 7-0 lead. The Buckeyes wasted no time tying the game when they got the ball first as they went 70 yards in two plays.

A 21-point second quarter was huge for Ohio State, which outscored the Herd in total offense in the game 569-264 and was very balanced on offense with 289 yards through the air and 280 on the ground. Marshall quarterback Stone Earle threw for 132 yards and completed 16 of 21 passes.

Marshall hosts Western Michigan next Saturday afternoon, while Ohio State plays Michigan State.

Later tonight at 11pm on Newschannel 3 we’ll have the highlights and post-game reaction with Keith Morehouse.
