    Oklahoma State football vs Arkansas live score updates in Week 2 game

    STILLWATER — Coach Mike Gundy and the Oklahoma State Cowboys can make a statement Saturday when the Arkansas Razorbacks visit Boone Pickens Stadium.

    No. 17-ranked OSU enters Week 2 of the college football season with plenty of momentum after rolling past two-time reigning FCS champion South Dakota State 44-20 in last week’s opener.

    Here’s what you need to know about the SEC-Big 12 nonconference game:

    This game is crazy. Plain and simple.

    After a penalty went against OSU that the Cowboys thought they had, kicker Logan Ward made a 38-yard FG to take the lead.

    OSU lined up to go for it on fourth-and-4 as time ticked away, but an Arkansas lineman appeared to jump the line and OSU tackle Dalton Cooper jumped. The Cowboys believed they had an offsides call. Instead, a false start was called.

    No matter. Ward kicked the field goal, his third of the day.

    Another penatly pushed the Cowboys away from the end zone, though.

    Off his back foot, Alan Bowman connected on a 36-yard bomb to Brennan Presley, who got behind the Arkansas defense to the 6. But Bowman was flagged after the play for a 15-yard penalty. He taunted the Arkansas bench, shooting pistols with his fingers that direction after the play.

    Chalk this game up as insane.

    Seventy-two seconds after OSU takes its first lead, Arkansas tied the game on a breakdown by the Cowboys’ defense.

    Luke Hasz, the tight end from Bixby, was wide open before scampering to the end zone for a 43-yard touchdown reception to tie the game.

    Hasz, however, appeared to be injured at the end of the play.

    Brennan Presley scored on a 3-yard run, finding the corner to give the Cowboys, who trailed 14-0 early, the lead for the first time in the day.

    But that drive belonged to the tight ends.

    Jake Schultz, who had a crucial penalty negate a touchdown earlier, caught a 63-yard pass on a flea flicker play. Then true freshman Josh Ford caught a 5-yard pass and appeared to have his first-career touchdown until replay overturned it.

    After a missed field goal earlier, Arkansas coach Sam Pittman elected to go for it on fourth-and-4 from OSU’s 23. And The Cowboys responded.

    Under heavy pressure, Razorbacks quarterback Taylen Green was forced to run but was stopped 1 yard shy by Obi Ezeigbo, who has replaced injured Collin Oliver.

    The Cowboys take over on their own 20.

    Again, Oklahoma State delivered on an Arkansas mistake.

    Just two plays after the muffed punt, Cowboys quarterback Alan Bowman connected with Brennan Presley for a 7-yard touchdown. Then, Presley found an open De’Zhaun Stribling in the end zone for a game-tying two-point conversion.

    Bowman also threw an 18-yard pass to Rashod Owens on the first play of the drive.

    And suddenly, it’s a new ballgame despite OSU’s struggles and Arkansas’ fast start.

    OSU’s drive stalled, but it doesn’t ultimately matter.

    Arkansas punt returner Isaiah Sategna muffed the punt and OSU longsnapper Shea Freibaum recovered, putting the Cowboys on the Hogs’ 25.

    Oklahoma State caught a break.

    After multiple plays in which Arkansas quarterback Taylen Green extended the drive to overcome some fumbling issues the Cowboys could not capitalize on, the Razorbacks settled for a field goal.

    Except kicker Kyle Ramsey missed wide right from 41 yards out.

    The Cowboys take over on their own 24.

    Arkansas faces third down when the final quarter begins after a 6-yard run by Ja’Quinden Jackson.

    The Cowboys pulled within one score with a 35-yard field goal from Logan Ward.

    Once again, an offensive penalty in the red zone pushed the Cowboys into a third-and-long situation. Receiver Rashod Owens was called for offensive pass interference on a play that appeared to be a pass designed to go to Brennan Presley.

    Ja’Quinden Jackson fumbled the toss and Kody Walterscheid recovered the ball at OSU’s 49-yard line, ending a six-play, 24-yard drive for Arkansas.

    With little room for error, Oklahoma State took points off the board with offensive penalties.

    A touchdown pass to Brennan Presley was erased by an illegal block by fullback Jake Schultz. Then a false start moved OSU back another 5 yards. After a pair of incompletions, the Pokes were left to kick a 45-yard field goal, which Logan Ward made.

    That trims Arkansas’ lead to 21-10 with 6:45 left in the third quarter.

    With Collin Oliver out of the rest of the game, the OSU defense picks up the slack on the first drive of the second half, holding Arkansas to 34 yards on seven plays.

    The OSU offense managed just 77 yards in the first half, falling behind Arkansas 21-7 at halftime.

    A week after his most efficient game as a Cowboy, quarterback Alan Bowman was 9 of 18 for 64 yards through the air with one interception. Star running back Ollie Gordon rushed six times for 11 yards, with his longest carry going for a gain of 3.

    Arkansas has 351 yards at the half, with 193 on the ground and 158 through the air.

    Jaheim Singletary outjumped OSU receiver Rashod Owens for an interception on a deep ball, ending what is likely OSU’s last offensive possession of the first half. Arkansas has dominated time of possession.

    It was the first interception this season of OSU QB Alan Bowman. 

    The Cowboys have just two first downs since the first possession of the game.

    The OSU defense came up with a quick stop to get the ball back for the Cowboys at the 2:47 mark of the second quarter. 

    The Cowboys trail 21-7 and running out of chances to cut the deficit in the first half. Arkansas will get the ball to start the second half.

    OSU continues to search for offensive consistency that has been absent since its first possession of the game.

    The Cowboys punted after another three-and-out with the Razorbacks leading 21-7 late in the first half.

    After a moment when it looked like he might have fumbled, Arkansas kept the ball and punched in a third rushing touchdown for Ja’Quinden Jackson. The 11-yard score gave Arkansas a 21-7 lead at the 5:05 mark of the first half. 

    A fumble had initially been called on the field on a play earlier in the drive. It was ruled OSU had recovered but video review overturned the call because Jackson’s knee was on the ground before he lost control of the ball.

    Collin Oliver exits with potential foot injury

    Oklahoma State defensive end Collin Oliver was escorted to the locker room after his quarterback pressure helped cause an interception that was returned for a touchdown.

    Oliver hobbled to the locker room with what the Cowboy Radio Network reported as a potential foot injury.

    A tense moment had OSU fans holding their breath after Kale Smith returned an interception 73 yards for a touchdown. But the flag was for offensive interference on Arkansas, so the touchdown stood, cutting the Hogs’ lead to 14-7 at the 8:50 mark of the first quarter.

    As OSU’s Collin Oliver pressured Arkansas quarterback Taylen Green, forcing the pass to float, Smith ran under it and went untouched for 73 yards.

    Having lacked any sign of momentum since its failed fourth down attempt on the opening possession, the Cowboys finally got a boost of energy with Smith’s first career interception.

    OSU is set for another three-and-out to start the second quarter with a 14-0 Arkansas lead. More importantly, OSU failed to get a punt off before the end of the first quarter with the wind at its back. 

    The Cowboys will punt from their own 40.

    Another long run by quarterback Taylen Green got Arkansas out of a third-and-long situation and set up Ja’Quinden Jackson’s second rushing touchdown of the day.

    That puts the Hogs up 14-0. Arkansas has 114 rushing yards on 13 carries, including Jackson’s pair of 5-yard TD runs. Green has 65 yards and Jackson 49.

    Alan Bowman and backup receiver Talyn Shettron were unable to connect on two straight passes, leading to another OSU punt. 

    A run by Ollie Gordon II and a pass to Shettron got the Cowboys a first down, but the incompletions ended the drive. OSU had a few backups on the drive, particularly at receiver.

    Arkansas took a 7-0 lead on a 5-yard touchdown run by Ja’Quinden Jackson to finish off a 45-yard drive.

    The Cowboy offense had a turnover on downs and a three-and-out on its first two possessions.

    After an Arkansas punt was downed at the 1-yard line, the Cowboy offense couldn’t get anything going. 

    A quarterback sneak and two straight incomplete passes led to an OSU punt to near midfield.

    Arkansas hit a couple of big run plays to open its first drive but the OSU defense got a sack by Jeff Roberson and forced a punt, which was downed at the 1-yard line.

    Arkansas quarterback Taylen Green had a 31-yard rush as the big play on the drive.

    OSU had a bit of miscommunication on a fourth-down pass as receivers Brennan Presley and De’Zhaun Stribling collided just before quarterback Alan Bowman delivered the pass. 

    With that, OSU’s opening drive stalled at the Arkansas 20.

    Oklahoma State true freshman tight end Josh Ford made his first career start — and later, his first career reception — on Saturday as the Cowboys made a couple of changes in the starting lineup.

    In addition to Ford, redshirt junior left tackle Isaia Glass made his first OSU start, stepping in for Dalton Cooper, which is a key position trying to block Arkansas defensive end Landon Jackson.

    Ahead of the 17th-ranked Cowboys’ game against Arkansas at Boone Pickens Stadium, it was announced that OSU backup linebacker Justin Wright remains out for the second straight week.

    Wright has not played for the Cowboys since early last season before suffering a knee injury that required surgery.

    Though Arkansas stifles the rushing attack of Ollie Gordon II early on, keeping him contained for four quarters is a different story. Gordon’s late outburst, plus some key defensive stops, carry the Cowboys to a 2-0 start.
