Official: Barcelona starting line-up against AS Monaco

Barcelona will be looking to continue their perfect start to the season with a win over AS Monaco in the opening match of the 2024/25 UEFA Champions League competition phase.

With just over an hour to go until kick-off at Stade Louis II, manager Hansi Flick has announced Barcelona’s starting line-up against Adi Hutter’s men.

One of the biggest questions ahead of the match was who Flick would pick to replace the injured Dani Olmo in the team.

The Barça manager has opted to deploy Eric Garcia as one of the defensive midfielders, alongside Marc Casado, leaving Pedri free to take on the role of number 10.

The rest of the team chooses their own game, with Marc-Andre ter Stegen in goal, while Pau Cubarsi and Inigo Martinez form the heart of the defence together.

Jules Kounde and Alejandro Balde occupy the positions of the full-backs.

Up top, Robert Lewandowski leads Barcelona’s attack against the Ligue 1 side, with high-performing winger Lamine Yamal taking up his regular position on the right flank. Raphinha starts on the other end.

Players like Pau Victor, Gerard Martin and Fernandez’s cousins – Toni and Guille, who are all on the bench, could make their Champions League debuts.
