Visiting teams from North Runcton and Snettisham joined host Grimston Cricket Club for their annual under 9s festival.

The youngsters enjoyed the fantastic weather and showed an impressive display of cricket skills.

In their first match, Grimston CC captain Charlie Adkin won the toss and chose to bat first, opening with Jude Pringle, both playing well despite some excellent bowling.

The next batters were Tomos Owen and Finlay Patterson, who bowled some big knocks but lost only one wicket.

The final batting pair were Maisie Shepherdly and Noah Tuffs, who did well despite coming up against some of North Runcton’s best bowers. North Runton won after an excellent last over from Teddy Ring and his batting partner.

The next game was won by North Runcton from Snettisham, securing the cup. The final game between Grimston and Snettisham was a deciding game.

Although both teams had little left to win, the atmosphere was great. It was an exciting match, narrowly won by Snettisham.

Snettisham were assisted by two young supporters, with Casper bowling superbly in his first match.

Player of the tournament was Grimston’s Oliver Chrysostomou, who was loaned to North Runcton for both games before returning to Grimston for the final game.

Chairman Tim Tilbrook was delighted with the day and said: “It was a huge success, the youngsters had so much fun and played some excellent cricket too. It’s great to see these local clubs serving their communities and growing the sport.”

Youth training at Grimston takes place on Wednesdays between 5pm and 6pm.
