Netflix teases ‘Jentry Chau’ with new trailer and December premiere date

With Halloween approaching, Netflix has released the teaser trailer for a suitably supernaturally animated treat on the way: Jentry Chau vs. the Underworld. The 2D series aimed at children and families premieres December 5.

The preview spot introduces us to the not-so-typical teenage girl Jentry, who will have to meet her literal demons in the magical new action-adventure series created by Echo Wu, who won a Silver Medal Student Academy Award, Emmy Student Award and BAFTA Student Award for her animated short film The wish giver (Ringling College of Art and Design). The teaser also features a new song from K-Pop star Jessititled “3X (세 번)”, which will be featured in the show.

“Sometimes finding your own identity comes face to face with your own demons,” Wu told Netflix’s fandom outlet TUDUM. “There are different layers to what that means. It rings absolutely true in Jentry. She tries to find out what these powers mean to her. Are they part of her? Are they cursing her? You see this character trying to figure out who she is.

The series follows Jentry Chau (voiced by Ali Wong), a Chinese-American teenager living in a small Texas town who discovers that a demon king is hunting her in search of the supernatural forces she has spent her life trying to suppress. With the help of her great aunt, a weapons expert, and a millennia-old jiangshi (Chinese hopping vampire), Jentry must now battle an entire underworld of monsters while balancing the horrors of high school.

The voice cast is also discussed Bowen Yang, Lori Tan Chinn, Lucy Liu, Jimmy O. Yang, Sheng Wang, Woosung Kim And A.J. Beckles.

Jentry Chau versus the underworld is animated by Mees, with Chris Prynoski, Shannon Prynoski, Antonio Canobbio and Ben Kalina serving as executive producers alongside Wu, Wong and Aron Eli Coleite.
