Montana’s fifteen home game winning streak against Weber St.

A 15-game home winning streak that began in 2022 with a loss to Idaho was snapped Saturday afternoon when the Grizzlies lost 55-48 to Weber St.

The loss is tough enough, but the stats show a much more concerning trend for the Montana Grizzlies defense. Through their first two games in the Big Sky Conference, the Griz have surrendered a total of 104 points. For the second week in a row, the Grizzlies allowed over 500 yards of offense, which is simply not a winning formula no matter how well the offense plays. The Griz also surrendered five touchdowns of 35 yards and more that day.

Speaking of the offense, Montana once again had a lot of success thanks to the solid arm of Logan Fife, who has become more comfortable in this offense each week. Against Weber, five through for 344 yards and 2 touchdowns. One of those scores came with 59 seconds left when Fife found Keelan White in the end zone to take a three-point lead.

However, just as they had done most of the day, Montana left Weber in field goal range with 56 seconds left and the Wildcats tied the score. A Weber touchdown and a Montana fumble would seal the deal as Montana dropped their first conference game of the year.
