MMA: Brendan Loughnane ‘not slowing down’ for PFL semifinal against Kai Kamaka

Manchester’s Brendan Loughnane says he won’t “slow down for anyone” in his bid to secure a spot in the 2024 PFL featherweight finals in Washington DC on Friday.

Loughnane won the 2022 tournament to become the first British PFL champion. He will face Kai Kamaka III in the semi-finals of this year’s series.

The 34-year-old won $1 million (then £840,000) and won the world title in 2022. He is now fighting his 35th professional fight against 29-year-old Kamaka.

Loughnane admitted in an interview with MMA Junkie, external During fight week, he was in the “twilight phase of his career,” but he dismissed the idea that he was slowing down.

“I hear things like ‘twilight’ and ‘(over)age,’ I look better than ever,” Loughnane said after making weight for the featherweight bout.

“Twilight (of my career)? I’m gonna show everybody what twilight is. I can’t wait.”

Loughnane has much more experience than Hawaiian Kamaka, who has a record of 14 wins, five losses and one draw.
