Missing ‘The White Lotus’? You’ll Love Nicole Kidman’s New Hit Series on Netflix

HBO’s murder mystery, The White Lotushas been a huge hit since its debut in 2021. With its stellar cast, stunning visuals, and witty humor, the anthology series has already won 15 Emmy Awards, and fans can expect its third season to premiere in 2025. But until then, how can we watch the White Lotus emptiness?

The answer, dear murder mystery fans, is Netflix’s new series, The perfect couple—which also happens to be the streaming service’s number one show in the top ten. Based on the novel of the same name by Elin Hilderbrand, the show follows Amelia Sacks (Eve Hewson), a young woman who plans to marry into a wealthy family. Despite her future mother-in-law, Greer (Nicole Kidman), disapproving, she plans an extravagant wedding. All seems to be going well—until a dead body turns up.

Of course chaos ensues because everyone at the party is suspected. But similar to The White Lotus, The perfect couple focuses on filthy rich people doing horrible things. It has an all-star cast and, as you might expect, there is plenty of dysfunctionality hidden beneath the glamour and picturesque views.

In a joint interview with Kidman, Liev Schreiber, who plays the groom’s father, said Entertainment tonight that he was immediately drawn to the script and the themes of the show. He said, “After talking to Nicole and (director Susanne Bier) about the American aristocracy and how darkly comic it was going to be, which was really important to me, and once we started talking about ways to get into that and things we could do to access some of the more delicious and perverse aspects of this community, I was sold.”

THANKS TO NETFLIX

Another great bonus is that the series starts off with a fun dance sequence. While chatting with DC Movie GirlHewson said: “I was out front living my life High school musical dreams, and then everyone started working on it.”

Meghann Fahy, who plays the bride’s best friend Merritt, added: “Yeah, eventually it was like you couldn’t resist the music anymore. We did it five times and finally gave in.”

Other cast members include Billy Howle, Dakota Fanning, Ishaan Khattar, Jack Reynor and Sam Nivola. All six episodes are now available to stream on Netflix.
