The teenager, who her parents say has a disability, disappeared Thursday morning after leaving her father’s house.

According to Fox affiliate WNYW, Barker left her house without her phone because it was charging.

She was last seen around 10:30 a.m. Thursday in the Wall Street neighborhood.

The teenager was found by a security guard at the city’s Seward Park Library on Friday.

The guard recognized Barker from an information bulletin.

He called the local police, who immediately came to the library.

The teenager was then taken to hospital by ambulance.

According to The Tribeca Trib, police called Barker’s stepfather and then FaceTimed him to confirm her identity.

Barker’s family explained that they were concerned about the teen because she had forgotten at least one dose of her medication before leaving the house.

They believed there could have been a medical emergency if she had not been found quickly.

A family friend added that libraries are among the favorite places in the city for teenagers to visit.

Barker’s mother, Saida Barker, expressed her gratitude to the guard and the community following the incident.

“The community showed tremendous support and poured through downtown with flyers and people were out on the streets,” she told The Tribeca Trib.

“There were multiple chats from downtown to mobilize people and thanks to them and the NYPD we were able to find her.”

She called the guard “the real breakthrough” for spotting her daughter.

Sophie has been taken to hospital, but her condition is not yet known.
