‘MIA’ ordered as a series directly from Peacock

Peacock has placed a straight-to-series order for the crime thriller Missingwritten and executive produced by Ozark co-creator Bill Dubuque.

MRC will produce the series set in South Florida and centered on a family that smuggles drugs for Etta Tiger Jonze, but when her family is slaughtered, she seeks justice to avenge her blood relatives while building her chosen family. The result is Etta’s journey from a powerless orphan to South Florida’s most powerful criminal queenpin.

Karen Campbell will be producing and showrunning Missing., while Stefano Sollima will direct and executive produce. Previously, Solima was the creator and director of ZeroZeroZero and as showrunner and director of the successful Italian series Gomorrah.

Ozark deserved 45 Emmy nominations and four wins, in addition to accolades at the Golden Globes and the WGA, SAG and DGA Awards.

Similar to the storyline for Missing, Ozark was about family and the American dream. The film starred Jason Bateman, Laura Linney, Sofia Hublitz, Skylar Gaertner and Julia Garner. Co-creator Dubuque worked as a recruiter before turning to screenwriting.

He wrote the feature film starring Ben Affleck The Accountant And The Judgestarring Robert Downey Jr. and Robert Duvall.

MRC also produces Peacock’s Poker Face Seriesco-starring T-Street’s Rian Johnson and Ram Bergman and Natasha Lyonne’s Animal Pictures, and the hit comedy Ted. Both series have been ordered for a second season from Peacock.
