Mega Millions Jackpot Climbs to $800M, Seventh Largest in History

There is still hope to become a multimillionaire quickly.

None of the tickets sold for Friday’s Mega Millions drawing won the jackpot, and the prize has risen to an estimated $800 million with a cash option of $401.8 million for Tuesday’s drawing.

The winning numbers from Friday’s draw were 6, 23, 41, 59, 63 and Mega Ball was 25.

Friday’s jackpot was $740 million with a payout of $366.3 million.

Tuesday’s $800 million jackpot draw is the game’s seventh-highest jackpot draw, surpassed only by the six jackpots over $1 billion.

The last winning jackpot ticket was sold in Illinois on June 4 and totaled $552 million.

In the 27 drawings since then, 20.7 million winning tickets have been sold, including 57 second-prize prizes of $1 million or more.

Six $1 million tickets were won in Friday’s drawing and one ticket sold in Ohio is worth $2 million after the player opted for the optional Megaplier.

Forty-nine other winners from Friday’s drawing won a third prize of $10,000, and 10 of those tickets chose the Megaplier, doubling their winnings.

According to a press release from the lottery, more than 1.6 million winning tickets were sold during Friday’s draw.

Two Mega Millions jackpots have been won this year, including a ticket worth $1.128 billion that won during the March 28 drawing and was sold at a ShopRite in Neptune Township in Monmouth County.

March’s billion-dollar jackpot remains unclaimed, but the winner has one year from the drawing date to claim the prize.

In July, a Powerball ticket worth $221 million was sold at a supermarket in Lindenwald to a regular customer who worked as a bus driver.

The next draw is on Tuesday September 10th at 11pm.

The odds of winning a prize on Tuesday are 1 in 24 and 1 in 302,575,350 of winning the jackpot.
