Major concern for Tottenham fans as Dominic Solanke suffers ankle injury

New Tottenham signing Dominic Solanke will not be fit for Spurs’ opening home game of the season against Everton on Saturday, his manager Ange Postecoglou has confirmed.

The striker made his debut for the north London club on Monday night in Tottenham’s 1-1 draw with Leicester City, but was forced to miss the match due to injury.

Postecoglou confirmed to the press on Friday that the 26-year-old has suffered an ankle injury and will therefore miss Tottenham Hotspur’s first home game of the season against Everton on Saturday.

“Dom got a knock in the last game. He got through the game but it flared up again the next day. He’ll miss tomorrow,” the Australian coach said, via The Independent.

“It’s an ankle injury. He got it really early, someone hit his ankle. He’ll be out tomorrow for sure.”

It is a major blow for Tottenham as the north London club lack strong options in the striker role and Postecoglou would have wanted Solanke to get up to speed as quickly as possible. The Englishman’s injury means Everton have one less game to do that and it remains to be seen how long the former Bournemouth star will be out for.

Big season for Dominic Solanke at Tottenham

Solanke joined Tottenham for the 2024-25 season as part of a £65million deal with Bournemouth. The striker is a replacement for Harry Kane who missed out on Postecoglou last summer and the Australian manager will be hoping he is half as good as the Spurs legend.

The 26-year-old player had the best season of his career in the 2023/24 season and will now prove himself at the highest level.

The Englishman is an intelligent footballer and is expected to make the move at Tottenham, but this ankle injury is not the ideal start to his career at the North London club.
