Macklemore will no longer perform at Neon City Fest

LAS VEGAS, Nev. (FOX5) – Neon City Fest announced some changes to its headliners Tuesday morning, though they were only announced last week.

In a statement, festival organizers said Macklemore “would no longer be performing” due to “unforeseen circumstances.”

They added: “We are excited to announce new artists joining the NCF line-up soon.”

Last Thursday, organizers held a unique ceremony to announce the festival’s headliners on Fremont Street. In addition to Macklemore, headliners announced included Neon Trees, Seven Lions, and Alison Wonderland.

Taking place in downtown Las Vegas is the Neon City Festival, a unique music, art and culinary event.

This comes after Macklemore, whose real name is Benjamin Haggerty, stirred controversy for his comments during his performance at the “Palestine Will Live Forever” concert in Seattle this weekend.

“Just say it. I’m not going to stop you. I’m not going to stop you,” Macklemore told the crowd. “Yeah, F— America.”

It is unclear what the crowd chanted prior to his remarks, which were met with applause.

FOX5 has reached out to organizers for more details about the cancellation, but has not yet received a response.

This is a developing story. Check back for updates.
