List: Louisiana Evacuation Orders for Hurricane Francine | Hurricane Center

Municipalities across Louisiana are conducting voluntary and mandatory evacuations in preparation for Tropical Storm Francine.

The storm is expected to strengthen to a Category 2 hurricane before making landfall in southern Louisiana near New Iberia on Wednesday afternoon or evening, a National Weather Service meteorologist in Slidell said.

Francine is expected to bring 5 to 10 feet of storm surge along the coast, with damaging winds and possible flooding in southern Louisiana. Several schools in the area have announced they are closed ahead of the storm.

These are the areas where evacuation orders have been issued so far:

Cameron Parish

An evacuation order was issued for all of Cameron Parish as of 6 a.m. Tuesday.

There will be no ambulance service in Johnson Bayou, Little Florida, Long Beach, Gulf Breeze Beach and Holly Beach, Cameron OHSEP said. Service will return once the evacuation order is lifted.

Iberia Parish

Iberia Parish President M. Larry Richard urged residents living south of U.S. Highway 90 and other vulnerable groups to evacuate.

Part of Iberia Parish is located on the northeastern portion of Vermilion Bay, where storm surge of 5 to 10 feet could occur.

“Residents who choose to stay put risk losing power and being unable to leave the area until the water recedes and the debris is cleared,” he said.

Jefferson Parish

Cynthia Lee Sheng, president of Jefferson Parish, said she plans to issue mandatory evacuations for residents living outside the federal levee system. That includes residents in Crown Point, Jean Lafitte, Barateria, Lower Lafitte and Grand Isle.

Parish Lafourche

Mandatory evacuations were issued Tuesday morning by Parish President Archie Chaisson III for residents of any FEMA or state housing and for residents south of the Leon Theriot Locks.

Chaisson advised voluntary evacuation for anyone living in the Lower Bayou Blue community, Eagle Island Road, in a mobile home or manufactured home, anyone living in low-lying areas or anyone with special medical needs.

The evacuations will begin at 5pm on Tuesday.

Plaquemines Parish

Mandatory evacuations were issued Monday evening for Lake Hermitage, Happy Jack, Myrtle Grove, Tidewater Road, Venice, White Ditch to Phoenix, Woodpark and Grand Bayou.

Voluntary evacuations were announced from Eastbank and Venice North to Alliance.

Parish of Terrebonne

An evacuation order has been issued for Zone 1 in Terrebonne Parish. That zone includes most of the western and southern portions of the parish. Residents must be out by 6 a.m. Wednesday.
