Latest Predictions: Colts vs. Jaguars

JACKSONVILLE – During the 2024 season, Jaguars experts – Tony Boselli, Frank Frangie, Jeff Lageman, Brent Martineau, John Oehser, Brian Sexton, JP Shadrick and Kainani Stevens – analyze the next day’s Jaguars matchup.

The Indianapolis Colts at EverBank Stadium.

Tony Boselli, Jaguars analyst and former Jaguars left tackle

  • The Jaguars will win if: They can start quickly and have a very effective running game. The Colts defense is beat up and will give up the underlying stuff between the 20s. Lawrence has to be patient, take what the defense gives him and then they have to score touchdowns when they get into the red zone.
  • The Colts will win if: They can pressure Lawrence and force some turnovers. The Colts are a beaten team on both sides of the ball, and who plays quarterback will likely be a game-time decision. To win a division along the way, they’ll have to steal a few assets
  • As Boselli sees it: The Jaguars are desperate for their first win of 2024, and the weekend Tom Coughlin heads to the Pride of the Jaguars is a good time to do it…Jags 24 Colts 14.

Frank Frangie, radio voice of the Jaguars

  • The Jaguars will win if: They relax, stop pressing so much, play freely and easily. They’re coming home on a special day, so there has to be a lot of energy. They need to play better in the trenches and Lawrence needs to take advantage of the open opportunities in the field. Essentially you just clean up the misses. And if Richardson plays, the Jags need to keep him contained and let him win out of the pocket.
  • The Colts will win if: They score first and put even more pressure on the Jags, who are trying to get their first win. The Colts need to take away the run and make the Jags one-dimensional. Jacksonville has been quite a rushing team. And if Richarson plays, he’ll have to make some off-schedule plays.
  • As Frangie sees it: The Colts haven’t won in Jacksonville in a decade. The Jags should win, but they need to find a level of confidence that could be lacking. The first part of this game is crucial.

Jeff Lageman, Jaguars analyst and former Jaguars Defensive End

  • The Jaguars will win if: Lawrence is playing at a higher level. Opportunities have been missed throughout the first four weeks and they must be taken if this team is to win – and if Lawrence is to avoid a tenth straight loss.
  • The Colts will win if: THey, win the turnover battle and run effectively. The Colts’ offensive line is one of the better units in the NFL and can make anyone who plays quarterback comfortable.
  • As Lageman sees it: There couldn’t be a better time for this Jaguars team to be playing winning football. Many former Jaguar players, or ‘Legends’, will be in town to celebrate Tom Coughlin’s induction into the Pride of the Jaguars and what better way to honor him than by playing winning football.

Brent Martineau, Sports Director of Action Sports Jax

  • The Jaguars will win if: They end up in the red zone and Lawrence hits his layups. I think this is the final step for the Jaguars to get their point total where it needs to be for a win. A goal-to-go situation cost them the match last week. Lawrence had a bad day and missed too many chances. The Jaguars have lost too many times in the last ten months because they have missed plays that could have been made.
  • The Colts will win if: They can win the sales margin. The one thing the Jaguars have done very well is hold the football in the first month of the season. Usually that’s a recipe for winning, but not for the Jaguars. They may be due for some turnover and the Colts are opportunistic in that category.
  • As Martineau sees it: Have a great October and it will be a good start for the Jaguars. I like the trend of the Jaguars beating the Colts at home. The bigger reason I like the Jaguars is that they are coming, and Lawrence is playing well against the Colts. The Jags are too good to keep losing games like this, especially at home. It is, in my opinion, the last chance to turn this season around and the Jaguars will win, 27-16.
