Las Vegas Fire Team Deployed to Respond to Davis Fire

A 34-member response team of Las Vegas area firefighters will be deployed to assist Fight the Davis Fire raging south of Reno.

A Clark County spokesman said the team will leave Wednesday morning for the Washoe Valley, where the Davis Fire has burned thousands of acres.

The Clark County Fire Department is sending four fire trucks for a total of 18 personnel, including a mechanic and a fire chief. Las Vegas Fire & Rescue, Henderson and North Las Vegas are also sending firefighters.

The Nevada Division of Emergency Management has asked for help because firefighters in Northern Nevada cannot get to the scene quickly.

The Davis Fire has burned nearly 5,600 acres as of Tuesday evening, according to the U.S. Forest Service. Officials estimate they are 31% contained.

Several homeowners have been evacuated and others are in a warning area.

Clark County says some of its personnel may be deployed to protect buildings, while others may be sent to local fire stations in the region to supplement staffing, while others are assigned to the Davis Fire Department.
