Lady Gaga and Michael Polansky make their red carpet debut in Venice

When it comes to red carpet dressing, Lady Gaga always goes all out for the look, whether she’s dressed in an avant-garde design made from car parts or an Old Hollywood Valentino gown. So it only makes sense that the actor and singer brought her signature fashion drama to the Venice Film Festival today. In town to promote Joker: Foil for Two Along with co-star Joaquin Phoenix, Gaga hit the stride and repeated with her signature “Mother Monster” style in tow. The dark romance! That headpiece! Now this is a statement look. And even better, she and fiancé Michael Polansky walked as a unit, marking their first red carpet appearance together.

Gaga opted for a back-sculpting design by Dior; the riff on a classic gown featured a plunging neckline and a full, scalloped skirt. That hem is big—it takes up space and requires a star of Gaga’s magnitude to pull it off. As did her theatrical lace headpiece, which was created by master fashion designer Philip Treacy (from his fall 2001 collection, no less). For jewelry, meanwhile, the star donned glittering pieces from Tiffany & Co. Gaga wore Tiffany’s platinum and 18-karat yellow gold diamond-encrusted necklace , as well as the label’s platinum and diamond earrings and Victoria’s platinum and diamond bracelet.

And the best part? We’ve got a whole Joker press tour to look forward to. This is just the beginning. Come on, put your feet up—we’ll be right back!
