Lady Gaga and Bruno Mars debut their new single at No. 1

Lady Gaga and Bruno Mars released their duet “Die with a Smile” a little over a week ago to rave reviews and applause from fans of both musicians. From the moment it arrived, it was clear the artists had something special on their hands with their first-ever collaboration. Now the numbers are in, and it’s clear the singers have produced a banger together.

“Die with a Smile” will debut at No. 1 on the Digital Song Sales chart when it is renewed by Billboard within a few hours. According to the magazine and chart company, the tune will launch as high as a title can climb on the weekly list of best-selling songs in the country.

Billboard states that “Die with a Smile” sold 21,000 copies in its first seven days of availability. That will be enough to dethrone Shaboozey’s “A Bar Song (Tipsy),” which currently tops the chart for single purchases. That tune is expected to drop just one spot to No. 2.

“Die with a Smile” marks Mars’ ninth trip to the top of the Digital Song Sales chart. Gaga has claimed just one additional hit, with an even 10 thanks to her latest champ.

While Gaga and Mars beat Shaboozey out in sales, they couldn’t dethrone him on the Hot 100. “A Bar Song (Tipsy)” has already been declared the winner for the upcoming frame, as it will top the charts as the most-consumed song in the country for the seventh non-consecutive time.

“Die with a Smile,” meanwhile, opens at No. 3 on the Hot 100. It’s an impressive starting position for the backward-looking track, and it returns both musicians to the top 10 on the competitive chart.

At this point, “Die with a Smile” is a standalone single. Neither Gaga nor Mars have commented on whether it will appear on one of their upcoming albums, or if it might just stand alone forever.
