Labor Day is held annually on the first Monday in September and honors the American labor movement. It has been an official federal holiday since 1894.

Are banks open on Labor Day?

No. Labor Day is a federal holiday, which means all banks are closed. However, you can use ATMs to withdraw cash or deposit money into your account, as well as make online transactions, as usual.

Will mail be delivered on Labor Day?

That won’t happen, and don’t expect any packages. The US Postal Service has Labor Day off. UPS will not be offering pickup or delivery, and UPS Store locations will be closed, except for UPS Express Critical service. FedEx is also suspending deliveries, and FedEx Office stores will have reduced hours. Call before you go. Please note that packages dropped off over the weekend will not be shipped until Tuesday.

Is the stock market open on Labor Day?

The New York Stock Exchange, Nasdaq and bond markets are all closed. They will reopen Tuesday. (Cryptocurrency exchanges, however, are not affected by the holiday.)
