British number one Katie Boulter lost nine games in a row to lose 2-6 6-0 7-5 to Magda Linette in the first round of the Cincinnati Open.

Boulter broke Linette twice in the first set to take the lead, but the Polish world number 43 responded in impressive fashion.

Linette dominated the second set, dropping only eight points, beating her British opponent in just 25 minutes.

The Pole took an immediate lead at the start of the third set and achieved her fourth service break in a row, bringing her lead to 3-0.

Boulter, the world number 30, fought back in the battle to level the set (4-4) and saved two match points (5-4).

But she was unable to secure her third match point in her next service game, as Linette booked a place in the second round, where she will face either Wang Xinyu or Liudmila Samsonova.
