Kamala Harris visits Detroit for Labor Day rally

Vice President Kamala Harris will make a campaign stop in Detroit on Labor Day, kicking off the final phase of the presidential election in Michigan. It is her first stop in the key state since formally accepting the Democratic nomination.

Detroit has hosted presidential candidates for years on a federal holiday honoring the American working class.

A recent Free Press poll covering the end of the Democratic National Convention through Monday showed former President Donald Trump with a one percentage point lead over Harris, which is within the margin of error.

After campaigning in Michigan, Harris will travel to Pennsylvania to hold an event in Pittsburgh. This will be the first joint event with President Joe Biden since Biden dropped his candidacy for a new term and endorsed Harris as Biden’s successor.
