John Amos’ daughter Shannon has revealed she found out about her father’s death through the media.

“We are devastated and have many questions about how this happened 45 days ago when, like so many of you, we heard about it through the media,” Shannon Amos wrote in a caption on a post on her official Instagram account.

Amos, best known for playing the patriarch James Evans Sr Good timesdied in Los Angeles on August 21 at the age of 84. His death, of natural causes, was announced on October 1 by his son KC.

Shannon Amos added on Instagram: “This should be a time to honor and celebrate his life, yet we are struggling to navigate the wave of emotions and uncertainties surrounding his passing. Yet there is some semblance of peace in knowing that my father is finally free.”

The Hollywood Reporterin a November 2023 feature film, pulled back the veil on the bitter struggle between Amos’ children as they fought each other for their father’s care and his estate, with Shannon Amos publicly accusing her brother KC of elder abuse, a claim he denied .

That November story featured Shannon Amos, an entertainment executive turned medicinal healer THR she provided extensive documentation to law enforcement agencies in Colorado and New Jersey to investigate her claims of KC’s elder abuse, that her brother over time consolidated authority over their father and his affairs, and isolated him from members of his inner circle:’ This has not only affected me, but also his grandchildren, his nieces, the people he worked with and the friends he has had for decades.”

Shannon Amos alleged that her brother had impersonated their father in communications, ignored his medical needs, mishandled his finances and exploited and eroded his legacy – all of which her brother rejected.

KC, who is developing a documentary about his father titled America’s fathertold THR that his sister was involved in a baroque crusade of character assassination in the hope of making him look, as he puts it, “unfit.”

I have no words… Our family received the heartbreaking news that my father, John Allen Amos, Jr., passed away on August 21st.

We are devastated and have many questions about how this happened 45 days ago. Like many of you, we heard about it through the media.
