    October 1st marks an incredibly historic day! Not only is it the birthday of America’s longest-lived president, but most remarkably, it is the 100th birthday of President Jimmy Carter, the very first centenarian president.

    A few weeks ago it was my great honor to attend Jimmy Carter’s 100th birthday celebration at the Fox Theater in Atlanta. The event was taped for broadcast on PBS and featured dozens of incredible musical performances, as well as video tributes from Jon Stewart, Dave Matthews, Bob Dylan and every living U.S. president… except Donald J. Trump.

    Last year, shortly after the death of Jimmy Carter’s 77-year-old wife, Rosalynn, Donald Trump threw shade at Carter by announcing, “Joe Biden is the worst president in the history of our country, worse than Jimmy Carter by a long shot.” Trump continued: “Jimmy Carter is happy now because he had a brilliant presidency compared to Biden.”

    Trump fails to acknowledge the truth that by every metric, poll, or survey of historians or educators, Jimmy Carter consistently ranks somewhere in the middle of the list of best to worst American presidents. Trump has never rated above the bottom five.

    Who was the better president? Trump or Carter

    Was it the humble man who ran Sunday school all his life, or the man who tries to make a profit selling $60 Bibles and spends his Sundays on the golf course?

    Was it the decorated World War II naval officer or the man who made bone spurs to avoid the draft and bragged to Howard Stern that his personal Vietnam was trying not to contract venereal diseases?

    Was it the honest, simple man who married his childhood sweetheart and remained faithful to her for 77 years, or the man who very publicly cheated on each of his three wives and was found liable for sexual assault?

    Jimmy Carter has raised millions and millions of dollars to eradicate disease in Africa, build homes for Habitat for Humanity, and oversee free and fair elections around the world.

    Opinion: My pastor father noticed a man of faith in Jimmy Carter. Let’s remember him this way

    Donald Trump has used the millions of dollars donated to his political campaign to pay his own legal bills and is trying to make a personal profit by selling sneakers, stocks, watches, Bibles and digital trading cards.

    Donald: You’re not Jimmy Carter!

    Happy Birthday President Carter…the best and only 100 year old president!
